San Diego, CA — Today, Sports San Diego announced that the 44th annual Holiday Bowl will be played at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. on Wednesday, December 27 with kickoff at 5:00 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on FOX.
The 2023 Holiday Bowl will feature top teams from the Pac-12 and ACC. Last year’s game featured a final minute touchdown by the Oregon Ducks to defeat the North Carolina Tar Heels 28-27 before 36,242 fans.
For the second straight year, the downtown skies above Petco Park will light up after the Holiday Bowl with the 46th KGB Sky Show. First launched in 1976, the KGB Sky Show is an astonishing and crowd-pleasing fireworks display synchronized to music and broadcast over the radio.
“We look forward to welcoming thousands of college football fans back to San Diego this December to visit the region and celebrate the Holiday Bowl,” said Mark Neville, CEO of Sports San Diego, organizer of the annual Holiday Bowl. “Last year was a tremendous success and we look forward to building on the enthusiasm for the game, the KGB Sky Show and all the downtown bowl week activities. We are also fired up to showcase San Diego and the Holiday Bowl on broadcast television yet again in a prime-time slot on FOX.”
Dates and times for bowl week festivities, including the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade and the Snapdragon Bowl Bash, and more will be unveiled soon on www.HolidayBowl.com and www.SportsSanDiego.org.
Tickets go on sale to the Holiday Bowl and KGB Sky Show to bowl game annual ticketholders on July 31, and the general public around Labor Day and the start of the college football season.
