Conner Annicharico Earns Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Award
Senior from La Costa Canyon High School to be honored at Petco Park during SDCCU Holiday Bowl in game featuring North Carolina vs. Oregon
SAN DIEGO (December 22, 2022)-Conner Annicharico has been selected from a pool of San Diego County student-athletes to receive the 2022 Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Player Award. Annicharico will be presented with a $2,000 scholarship on the field at the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl.
This year’s 43rd annual game between North Carolina and Oregon will be played on Wednesday Dec. 28 at 5 p.m. and will be televised nationally on Fox.
“The most inspirational part of Conner’s story is when he was told his season had likely ended (knee injury) he still came to every single player meeting, workout, practice, and game and did every single thing possible to help support his teammates,” said Sean Sovacool, head football coach La Costa Canyon High School. “It is an absolute blessing to be his coach and see him mature and grow into such an accomplished and battle tested young man.”
After missing 4 weeks of the season playing with a torn ACL Conner went on to earn 1st team All- League Honors in the highly competitive Avocado League. He finished the year completing 136 passes, with a 62.39 completion percentage, 1,870 yards, and 14 TDs.
“The Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Player program aims to recognize a San Diego County high school football player “who, through their presence, actions and words of encouragement, serves as an inspirational example to their teammates,” said Brian Kleinsmith, Dr Pepper, Division Sales Manager. “Conner Annicharico is a well-deserved winner of the scholarship.”
