Ryan earned the win by stopping his ball just 5-feet 3-inches short of the flag, the second best ever shot in the 23-year history of the event. His effort earned him the keys to a new car for a year, courtesy of Toyota of El Cajon. An ace on the 170-yard hole would have brought a golfer $1 million.
Dallas Field of La Mesa finished in second place, his ball coming to rest just 16-feet 1-inch from the pin. Ron Flaherty of San Diego placed third.
Event sponsors included Tilted Kilt, Bridgepoint Education, AT&T, Five Star Tours, Barney & Barney, Toyota of El Cajon, Cox Communications, XTRA Sports 1360, AM 600 KOGO and San Diego Business Journal.
The 2011 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl kicks off at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28th and will feature teams from the Pac-12 and Big 12 conferences. For information, visit www.BridgepointEducationHolidayBowl.com.
