Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl officials announced today that it is providing discounted entry fees for active duty military personnel at its popular Wells Fargo Outrigger Challenge & Luau. The 10th annual event is set for Saturday, April 30th along Mission Bay at Crown Point Shores.
Military teams will receive 20% off the regular team entry fee of $200. Just one of the five team members must have active-duty status to qualify for the discount. The offer expires at midnight, Friday, April 22nd.
The Wells Fargo Outrigger Challenge & Luau is a fund-raiser for the non-profit Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl, a 501c3 community enhancement organization dedicated to generating tourism and economic benefit for the San Diego region.
Five-member teams will get into outrigger canoes and paddle a 200-meter flat water course. No experience is necessary. Participants must be 18 years of age or older to participate, and at least two on the team must be women. The entry fee includes t-shirts and at least two races in a double elimination format. In addition to the racing action, all race participants will also be treated to a luau that features the tastes and sounds of the Hawaiian Islands. Food is provided by Da Kine’s Plate Lunches and the beverages are courtesy of Kona Brewing Company and Dr Pepper.
Approximately 85 teams are expected to participate.
